Brian F. Glenister

One of the most interesting periods in earth history for
ammonoids, the end of the Paleozoic and beginning of the
Mesozoic, is the area staked out by Brian F. Glenister.
During a lifetime of careful research he has illuminated the
systematics and biostratigraphy of Permian and Triassic
ammonoids.  Ranging widely from China to Kashrnir to New
Zealand, he has documented the succession and diversity of
ammonoids and helped assemble the standard widely accepted
zonation of the Perinian.  All this in addition to detailed studies of
nautiloids as exemplified by his contributions to the nautiloid
Treatise.  Through his long association with the University of
lowa, he has made that institution a center for cephalopod studies
and through his hard work, professionalism, and enthusiasm has
  inspired generations of students.
