Abstract: Evolutionary rates allow the recognition of two maxima in the diversity of clymeniids during
the Famennian, the first being in the Platyclymenia annulata zone, with relatively simple shell forms und
suture lines.  In the second diversity maximum, in the upper subarmata und lower paradoxa zones of the
Wocklumeria Stufe, forms with complicated conch shapes and more complex suture lines are pre-
  dominant.
