A rare typical new group of ammonite was discovered at the bottom of coal rneasures in the
Shangrao Formation of late Early Permian age in Yanshan area, Jiangxi. Node decorations are well-
developed on the shell surface, the suture siphonal lobe is long and narrow, while the sub - lobe is
lanceolate in shape, which are distinctively different frorn other families of the Gastriocerataceae.
Therefore, the new family is named as Nodogastrioceratidae fam. nov. and a prelirninary discussion
has been made on the systematic evolution of the various genera of the new family in the Maokou
          Period.
