[Bogoslovskaia, 1978, p. 61, Vidrioceratidae]: Shell pachyconic, ranging from evolute to involute in the early stages, involute in the adult state. Umbilicus narrow. Ornament in the form of radially directed lamellae forming a shallow ventral sinus or a similar projection. Suture consisting of 20 to 48 lobes. Branches of ventral lobe bicuspid, less frequently simple or tricuspid. Between tree and ten basally toothed lobes develop from the primary outer lateral lobe. Dorsal lobe broad, tripartite or narrow, tricuspid. Between three and nine simple, bicuspid or tricuspid lobes develop from the first inner lateral lobe, Three to four from the primary umbilical lobe. Zhigulevskian- Dzhulfian stages.

[Bogoslovskaia, 1978, p. 63, Vidrioceratinae]: Shell pachyconic, with narrow umbilicus. Suture consisting of 22 lobe. Branches of ventral lobe bicuspid, rarely simple. First outer lateral lobe bicuspid, second tricuspid, third usually broad, tripartite. Zhigulevskian- Wordian stages.Distinguished from the Glassoceratinae by the suture: the smaller number of lobes, their weak dissection, and the outline of the ventral lobe.
