Balvia:
A    Conch form: small, lenticular to subglobose, completely involute, with punctiforme umbilicus.
B    Growth lines fine, prorsiradiate, concave-convex, with well developed ventrolateral salient and hyponomic sinus.
D    Flanks with several weak constrictions, which usually swing forward at venter to form grooves bounding a median keel.
Apertural modifications may be present.

Balvia (Kenseyoceras): Conch biform: early stage imitoceratid-like, without constrictions; later, after a single
constriction formation of a strong keel and ventral rostrum. Apertural modification terminated by constrictions. Umbilicus
punctiform throughout ontogeny.
