Type species: Ellipsolithes funatus Sowerby, 1814, p. 81 [SD Schindewolf, 1951, p. 309].

A:   Conch form thickly discoidal, with wide or moderately narrow umbilicus.
C:   Sculpture with prominent , mainly simple ribs; irregular bifurcation may be present.
D:   Constrictions may be present.
F:   Spirals between ribs may occur.
G:   Ventral lobe with orad diverging sides, median saddle elevated to a fourth or a third of entire ventral lobe. First lateral saddle narrowly rounded or subacute.
