Type species: Baschkirites discoidalis Librovitch, 1957, p.251 [OD].

A:   Conch discoidal, with narrow umbilicus on adult stage.
B:   Growth lines fine, prorsiradiate, with long ventrolateral salient; ventrolateral grooves common.
F:   Simple, sometimes granose spiral ornamentation on entire shell.
G:   Ventral lobe wide and V-shaped, with moderately high median saddle; first lateral saddle rounded or subacute,
adventitious lobe deep and acute.

Some authors (e.g. Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia) assign Baschkirites to superfamily Nomismocerataceae, family
Nomismoceratidae, subfamily Baschkiritinae.

[Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaya, 1978, p.136: Discicone or platycone conch.  Very involute
whorls. Umbilicus tight.  A furrow runs on the outer side of the conch, weakening in the
process of phylogenesis.  Sculpture is mainly spiral, represented by sharp lirae.  Growth
lines form a ventral and a lateral sinus, devided by a tongue shaped salient in the
peripheral zone.  Ventral lobe very wide, sides strongly diverging;  with a wide, but
not very high medial saddle.  First outer saddle angular and asymmetric.  Lateral lobe
stunted.]
