1987  Gattendorfiinae Bartzsch & Weyer: 61.
     1988  Gattendorfiinae.-Bartzsch & Weyer: 136.

Prionoceratidae with evolute whorls on young stages. Adult stages evolute or involute. [Conch form, ornamentation,
constrictions, suture elements very variable].

Bartzsch & Weyer (1987, p.61) introduced the subdivision of the subfamily Gattendorfiinae into two Tribus:

(1) Tribus Gattendorfiini Bartzsch & Weyer 1987

Gattendorfiinae with rursiradiate ornamentation without ventrolateral salient, rarely with ribs of the same course,
ventral without keel and grooves.

(2) Tribus Pseudoarietini Bartzsch & Weyer 1987

Gattendorfiinae with discoidal and evolute conch form during the entire ontogeny, frquently with keel and simple
strong ribs on the flanks which do not cross the ventral side.

In GONIAT the Tribus will be treated as independent families:
(1) Gattendorfiidae Bartzsch & Weyer, 1987 and (2) Pseudarietitidae Bartzsch & Weyer, 1987.
