1987  Platyclymenia (Fasciclymenia) Korn & Price: 8.

Type species: Platyclymenia Quenstedti Wedekind, 1914, p.45 [OD].

A:    Conch form discoidal with flattened venter; flanks convex; umbilicus moderately wide.
B:    Fine growth lines with prorsiradiate direction and concave-convex course; ventrolateral salient as long as wide;
       deep external sinus. Growth lines form a ventral band.
C:    No ribs.
D:    No constrictions.
G:    Suture line without ventral lobe; lateral lobe symmetric, shallowly rounded.

Nikolaeva & Bogslovskii, 2005: Korn and Price (1987) proposed  the subgenus Fasciclymenia (type species Platyclymenia quenstedti Wedekind, 1914). They based the new subgenus on the absence of developed ribs, arrangement and curvature of the growth striae that form small bunches on the flanks and a flattened venter (forming a ventral band). In our view these characters are insufficient to recognize a separate subgenus, while they are widely found within a highly variable genus Platyclymenia.
