Type species: Altayceras chinense Wang, 1983, p.528; OD.

[Type species based on heavily crashed specimen; ornamentation
and suture (with very high median saddle) suggest relationship to
Platygoniatites].

A:   Conch discoidal, involue, with small and shallow umbilicus.
Whorl section high, venter narrowly rounded.
B:   Surface with strong longitudinal lirae and fine growth lines
forming reticulate pattern.
D:   Deep constrictions.
G:   Ventral lobe broad, with relatively high median saddle;
prongs wide and pointed. Ventrolateral saddle angular and
subacute. Adventitious lobe pouched, umbilical lobe short and
pointed, located near umbilical seam.
