Type species: Lyrogoniatites cloudi Miller & Youngquist, 1948, p.660 [OD].

A: Conch form big, thick-discoidal to subglobular, moderately evolute to moderately involute, umbilicus rather wide.
B,F: Sculpture consisting of coarse, widely spaced longitudinal lirae.
D: Constrictions in most forms, if present, wide and deep.
G: Ventral lobe narrow, with sides slightly divergent or subparallel; median saddle less high than half the height of
entire ventral lobe.

Whorls from moderately evolute to moderately involute. Umbilicus moderately wide or wide
and stair-like. The umbilical seam is covered by test material. Sculpture consists of
about 20-30 sharp lirae on the whole outer surface. Constrictions wide and deep,
especially on the steinkern; they do not continue on the umbilical wall. Ventral lobe
thin, sides weakly parting. Height of the medial saddle is less than half of the whole
lobe.]
