Type species: Faqingoceras discoideum Yang, 1978, p.190 [OD].

A:   Conch form thick-discoidal, relatively involute; umbilicus moderately wide. Flanks parallel, ventral side slightly flattened.
B:   Ornamentation with sigmoidal, biconvex growth striae, forming ventral sinus.
G:   Ventral lobe moderately wide, median saddle half the height of entire lobe, ventrolateral saddle broadly rounded.
Adventitious lobe V-shaped. No additional suture elements.

[Phylogenetic relationship uncertain; similarity of sculpture suggests relationship to Welleritidae].

[Nishida et al., 1996, p.6: Shell medium to small and subglobular to subdiscoidal; smooth or ornamented by lamellar,
sinuous ribs which are developed from earlier or later growth stages. Some species provided with constriction
expressed as distinct pit-like or lunule-like deep depressions which appear at early growth stage. Suture 8-lobed;
umbilical lobe migrated from the umbilical wall to inner flank in the course of phylogenetic change.]
