Type species: Paragastrioceras carinatum Chao, 1965, p.1817; OD.

[Ruzhentsev, 1974, p.24:] Shell fairly large, subophioconic. Whorls moderately evolute, trapeziform, with slight ventral
keel. Umbilicus broad, with sheer walls. Sculpture fairly coarse, mainly longitudinal, represented by sparse lirae covering
the entire outer surface, including the umbilical walls. Tubercles numbering 20 per whorl developed along umbilical
border. Constrictions present, forming distinct ventral sinus and lateral projection. Ventral lobe fairly narrow (wl/hl ~ 0.75),
with narrow long acuminate branches; median saddle of average height (hs/hl ~ 0.50). Lateral lobe narrow, abbreviated
by comparison with ventral lobe.- Differences to Paragastrioceras: transversal sculpture forms narrow ventral sinus in Ch.,
a broad ventral projection in Paragastrioceras. Broad whorls, trapeziform in cross section, distinguish it from the late
Permian Altudoceras.
