Type species: Alurites costatus Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia, 1975, p. 57 [OD].

A:   Conch form small, ophiocone to oxycone, rather involute, umbilicus very wide.
B-F: Sculpture reticulate, spiral ornamentation weak. Umbilical tubercles or riblets sickle-shaped, giving rise to fasciculate
       ribbing, forming ventral sinus.
G:   Prongs of ventral lobe narrow and rounded, median saddle low.

[Ruzhentsev et Bogoslovskaya, 1978, p.256: Conch small, ophiocone to platy- and suboxycone.  Whorls tight, moderately to very involute.  Umbilicus wide to moderately wide.  Sculpture reticulated, but lirae developed weakly.  Umbilical protuberances (folds) distinct and crescent shaped.  From them, clusters of riblets depart and form a general salient, which is complicated by a ventral sinus.  Ventral lobe not very wide (w/h ranges from 0.90 - 0.70);  its prongs thin, normally rounded at the base.  Median saddle thin (height saddle / height lobe < 0.50).]
