1975  Clistoceratidae Ruzhentsev: 33, 41.

Clistoceratidae have been erected for subglobular forms with
involute whorls and a narrow umbilicus, regarded herein as
synonym of subfamily Stenglaphyritinae.

[Ruzhentsev, 1975, p. 42]: Shell ranging from spheroconic to
subspheroconic. Whorls ranging from highly to completely
involute. Umbilicus ranging from narrow to very narrow, sometimes
covered by helicolateral deposits. Sculpture transverse, very
weak. Ventral lobe fairly broad (wl/hl between 0.85 and 1.10).
This family, which is phylogenetically related to the
Glaphyritidae, differs from that family in having far more
involute whorls and a narrow umbilicus, and from
Stenoglaphyritidae in the subspheroconic shell.
