Type species: Surenites krestovnikovi Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia, 1975, p.52 [OD].

A:   Conch form rather involute, umbilicus moderately wide. B-C: At immature stages only transverse striae and umbilical
tubercles present, giving rise to riblets forming ventral sinus.
F:   Adult shell surface bearing reticulate ornamentation. Some species with crenulate growth striae, but no lirae.
E:   Intraventral furrow and constrictions on internal mold may be present.

[Ruzhentsev et Bogoslovskaya, 1978, p.229: Conch subophiocone and subdiscoidal to pachycone.  Whorls very to completely involute.  Umbilicus moderately tight to moderately wide.  Umbilical proturbances present on young shells and are retained for quite a long time.  From these, rib clusters develop.  Ribs crenulated in the last few species.  Ribs form a ventral sinus, which becomes deeper with age;  they are slanted foreward from the umbilical rim on.  Lirae absent.  Ventral lobe not very wide in the beginning; in the process of phylogenesis it widens and the sides diverge (w/h changes from 0.90 to 1.30).  Median saddle not very high (saddle height / lobe height = 0.55 - 0.65).]
