Type species: Tectiretites hodsoni Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia 1975, p.59 [OD].

[= Reticuloceras (Panxianoceras) Yang, 1978, p.171, type R. (P.) microreticulatum, p.417; OD (subj.)].

A:   Inner whorls evolute, later stages involute, with moderately wide umbilicus. Conch form at maturity oxycone, tectiform,
polygonal, with angular flanks.
B:   Ornamentation consisting of small nodes at umbilical wall.
C:   In some species elongated to riblets that cross venter with small sinus.
F:   Most species with spiral ornamentation.

[For discussion see MANGER & SAUNDERS, 1980, p.13. Panxianoceras was erected for forms with rather wide umbilicus].

[Ruzhentsev et Bogoslovskaya, 1978, p.261: Conch subophiocone to subcadicone in early growth stages;  in adult state oxycone.  Sides devided into two zones:  more or less flat outer zone and a curved outer zone.  Whorls very to moderately involute.  Umbilicus moderately tight to middle sized.  Sculpture reticulate.  Umbilical protuberances (folds) are present in young shells and disappear with age.  From these, clusters of ribs expand, which form a ventral sinus, which becomes deeper with age.  Ventral lobe wide at first, then becoming thinner with progressing phylogeny (w/h from 1.25 to 0.75);  its prongs thin, in adult stages sharp to dulled.  Median saddle not high. (saddle height / lobe height = 0.60 - 0.40)].
