Superfamily Neodimorphocerataceae FURNISH & KNAPP, 1966:

A:   Conch form thick-discoidal to discoidal, with tendency to
oxyconic ventral side.
B:   Sculpture consisting of dichotomizing costellae.
G:   In the course of phylogeny ventral lobe widening and
becoming bipartite. Sutural formula:

Family Neodimorphoceratidae FURNISH & KNAPP, 1966:

A:   Conch form subdiscoidal to lenticular, involute. Umbilicus
very narrow.
B:   Sculpture consisting of dichotomizing costellae, at least on
early whorls.
F:   Spiral ornamentation common.
G:   Ventral lobe very wide, quadripartite, with simple
lanceolate branches. First lateral saddle rounded to subacute.
Sutural formula:

     [Russ.] (V1.1V1.2V1.2V1.1)LU:ID.

[Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia, 1969, p.65]: Shell varies from
subdiscoconic to oxyconic. Whorls completely involute. Umbilicus
very narrow. Sculpture of dichotomizing costellae, which
disappear as the shell grows. Ventral lobe very broad,
quadripartite, with simple lanceolate branches. First outer
saddle varies from rounded to mucronate. Lateral lobe varies from
ampullaceous to fang-like.
