1978  Paraschartymites Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskiy: 172.
?   1987  Pseudoschartymites Yang: 159.

Type species: Paraschartymites repens Ruzhentsev & Bogoslovskaia 1978, p.172 [OD].

A:   Conch form small, subglobular to subdiscoidal, completely involute; last whorls surround completely the previous ones.
Early whorls evolute, widely umbilicate; adult stages with relatively narrow umbilicus.
B:   Growth lines consist of weak rectilinear lamellae; weak constrictions may be present on internal mold.
G:   Ventral lobe with slightly divergent sides its prongs being rather wide. Height of median saddle reaching 3/4 of height
       of all lobes.

[Close to Schartymites in the interpretation of RUZHENTSEV, 1975, p.42, text-figure 5v; if RUZHENTSEV's view is correct, Paraschartymites seems to be a junior synonym of Schartymites]. Pseudoschartymites is based on obviously immature specimens resembling to Paraschartymites.

[Ruzhentsev et Bogoslovskaya, 1978, p.172: Conch not large, pachycone to subdiscoidal.  Whorls circumscribing, absolutely involute and even protruding.  Umbilicus very tight, funnel-shaped in early stages, sometimes zig-zag shaped in cross section.  Sculpture radial, represented by slight, almost straight lamellae.  Weak constrictions are sometimes discernible only on the steinkern.  Ventral lobe wide, with somewhat diverging sides;  width/height approx. 1.40.  Prongs of lateral lobe quite wide.  Height of median saddle reaches 65-75% of lobe height.]
