Type species: Chebbites reisdorfi Klug, 2001, p.495 [OD].

Klug, 2001, p.495: Small to moderate sized evolute or advolute conch; with a small imprint zone. Whorl cross section subcircular in early growth stages, later subtrapezoidal, laterally flattened, venter tabular. Wide umbilicus with moderately large umbilical window (ca. 2 mm). Protoconch ovoid and large (0.9 mm). Moderate to moderately high whorl expansion rate (1.7 to 2.2). Sculpture with rursiradiate or rectiradiate ribs and growth lines. Growth lines with a moderately deep external sinus. Suture line with a shallow external lobe, a broad lateral lobe, and sometimes with a small internal lobe.

Comparisons (Klug, 2001, p.495): Chebbites KLUG 2001 is clearly distinguished from the Mimoceratidae STEINMANN 1890 by its unique combination of a moderate to moderately high whorl expansion rate (1.7 to 2.2), a small but distinct imprint zone, and the resulting shallow internal lobe. Additionally, the coarse ribs and growth lines on the venter sometimes in combination with the kidney-shaped impressions characterise the new genus. However, the tabulate venter, the deep ventral sinus in the growth lines which almost form an external band, and the kidney-shaped impressions indicate a close relationship to the Mimoceratidae.Talenticeras ERBEN 1965 has a gyroconical adult whorl and Mimosphinctes EICHENBERG 1931 dorsoventrally bi- or trifurcating ribs.

A:   Advolute or extremely evolute.
